Our Goals To present two orchestral programs of classical, semi-classical and popular music in Elko per season.
To provide a venue for emerging young talent to appear as soloists.
To afford employment and performance opportunities for northern Nevada professional musicians and composers. Our History Since its inception, 82 student soloists and over 1800 members of musical ensembles have had the opportunity to perform with this professional orchestra.
The NNCOA has had the honor of commissioning and premiering these major orchestral works: The Sagebrush Suite The Mark Twain Suite: Reflections on America Concerto for Flute, Piano and Orchestra Artsik It's About Time, for Jazz Combo and Orchestra by David Bugli, premiered in November 2010.
The NNCOA was fortunate to have had George Rosenberg as the Founding Conductor and Music Director of the orchestra. Since his retirement in 1997, guest conductors have been employed who have offered a rich diversity of musical knowledge and many years of experience. Many of the members of the orchestra are professionals, some with many years of experience, some just starting, and some are from Elko.
